Did you know the Bible isn't all fun
and games? There's a serious side to it too. It's a book to think
about, attack with questions or dip into for the spiritual equivalent
of meat and two veg (or veg and grated cheese for the non-carnivores
among us).
Sailing on the Ark will be 12 of the Bible's most feisty, grumpy,
accident-prone and faith-filled characters. And while their onboard
life, loves and temper tantrums will make for compelling viewing,
it's doubtful that they'll ever be able to trump the outrageous
messes and miracles that the original characters experienced a few
thousand years ago.
So while you're getting goggle-eyed tuning into the Ark action,
why not grab a Bible and judge for yourself how the modern day play-off
compares to the real thing.
SOAP AND SCRIPTURE
To help you we're producing a 12-pak of Ark discussion notes, which
will be available onsite at the beginning of April. You'll be able
to download it free for your church's home groups, youth groups
or priestly prayer huddles and get talking. Alternatively,
you can follow the notes on your own.
Each study takes one of the characters, charting their biblical
highs and lows, looking at how they coped with the big issues and
asking a few sharp questions. Collect all 12 or just pick your faves.
You and your group can also follow the arguments and scandals on
board the Ark, dissect the contestants like soap addicts, and come
to your own conclusions about how you translate the stories of the
Bible into the world of the 21st century.
If you prefer the sound of this to "40 Principles of Sacramental
Discipleship from the book of Haggai" or whatever else
your minister's got scheduled for the summer season then

be posting more details and samples of the 12-pak notes as soon
as possible so watch this space.
